The Orange

As an Orange Helper, being soul centric when helping gets tricky for you because of your profound fear of being unloved. You believe that if you are not loved by others you will be unhappy.

Because of this, your blocks to remaining soul centric are related to the ways you ensure you always remain liked.

In a coaching relationship, this could mean that you often:

  • Promise more than you can deliver or deliver more than you promise.

  • Appear overly friendly and cheery.

  • Sugar-coat or shade the truth out of fear of hurting someone.

  • Say what you think your client wants to hear in order to please them.

  • Feel de-motivated and angry if clients don't appreciate your efforts.

  • Avoid putting boundaries in place because you feel much more comfortable giving than receiving.

  • Offer more of yourself than is healthy in an unconscious desire to make people feel indebted to you.

Your Map & Soul Centric Coaching

Developing your skills as a Soul Centric Coach is about awakening and safeguarding the deepest potential within others.

Becoming truly soul centric with your clients involves a moment by moment commitment to dropping your armour and staying in full contact with the deepest aspect of who you are. Only then can the deepest aspect of your being connect with the deepest aspect of your client’s being.

When you work with your map, you are not only seeing the specific ways that your personality type armours and blocks your ability to take a soul centric approach with your clients, you are also getting a glimpse of what being a Soul Centric Coach is all about for you as an Orange Helper.

The Enneagram teaches that each personality type has its own soul signature, an essential quality that belongs to that type. When you look at the centre of your map you are coming face to face with your own soul signature. Each soul signature is a personal signpost for becoming a Soul Centric Coach. The word 'Love', written in the centre space of your map, is the essential quality you will feel when you are being fully soul centric with your clients.

As an Orange Helper, you will experience this Love in your coaching work when you:

  • no longer need to people please to gain rapport.

  • naturally relax your tendency to be overly helpful.

  • loosen your grip on your belief that you are the ONLY one who can help.

  • set appropriate boundaries on your time and efforts.

  • feel a profound serenity throughout your whole body.

  • have a mind free from excessive thought and analysis.

  • become open and centred.

  • act decisively and know exactly what is needed in the moment.

  • let go of blame, judgement, resentment, and frustration.

When you are fully present in this way your presence influences your client's presence. When you are connected to your inner stillness and wisdom,  your client moves into their inner stillness and wisdom. Then the real magic starts to happen. In this moment, you will know that the simple art of 'being with' is enough to transform both yourself and your client.
