The Soul Maps
There are nine glorious soul maps, one for each personality type as described in the Enneagram of the Personality. One of them is yours.
What your soul map shows you is that beyond the day to day dealings of your personality there is an aspect of you that is hidden.
This aspect is your soul.
The outer layers of your soul map describe the ways you block access to your soul.
The centre of your soul map represents your soul, and the word written in the centre of each map is what we call your soul signature. This is the essential quality that makes you, well... you!
Your soul map is like any other map, it plots a course to reconnect with the wisdom and energy of your soul.
The R.E.S.T. Practice
The R.E.S.T. Practice is a four step journaling practice based on mindful inquiry that guides your creative journaling. R.E.S.T. stands for Recognise, Explore, Surrender and Transform. This is a guided practice that uses specific questions and journaling techniques to guide your journey.
This first stage of the R.E.S.T. Practice involves using your soul map to RECOGNISE some aspect of your personality that has been cropping up in your day-to-day life. The first step to connecting with your soul is to recognise the ways your habitual traits block access to it!
The Explore stage of the practice is about exploring the aspect of your soul map you have identified. Guided questions will help you explore by free-writing your answers on your page.
The Surrender stage of the practice involves letting any thoughts, emotions, feelings, or sensations simply be there, without trying to fix, fade or avoid anything. Here you will be encouraged to let your feelings and sensations be as big as they want to be, to just let them be whilst doodling in the border of your page.
This final step flows naturally on from the previous step. The Transform stage of the R.E.S.T. Practice is all about listening into the inner stillness at the core of your being. Using the tissue paper images and soul messages in your pack your will gently come into conversation with your soul and listen for its wisdom.
Your innate creativity
Whether you consider yourself to be creative or not does not matter. This journey will guide you step by step using simple techniques that can be mastered by anyone. In this practice we are tapping into you innate creativity. Many of the participants who are on this journey would not consider themselves to be creative, many have not picked up art materials since school. They are constantly surprised by what they produce.
Also, there are two ways you can embark on this journey. Using the 'Single Media Approach' which uses the simple tools found in your pack or the 'Mixed Media Approach' which uses a variety of mixed media materials. Which-ever approach you choose you will still find much joy and inspiration in this practice.
