As a Purple Individualist, you value individuality, both yours and your client's. You value being unique above all else and long to freely express yourself. You feel your emotions deeply and are not afraid of their power which is what makes you able to handle strong emotion from your clients. You want to be gifted, intuitive, original and unique. More importantly, you want to be passionate and uniquely authentic. You desire experiences that are rich with feeling and meaning. You would like others to see you as idealistic, emotionally deep and compassionate. These traits mean that you are great at what you do, but this journey is about you stepping up and becoming fully visible in the world.
Below is your map for the journey.
How does my map work?
Your map is a visual device that enables you to recognise and relax the ways you avoid being visible so you can show up in the world.
The outer layers of your map show how your inborn personality traits have become conditioned and fear-driven ways of avoiding showing up in the world. The centre of your map points a specific quality that describes who you are beyond your fear-based conditioning. In the case of the Purple Individualist who you are beyond your conditioning is described as the quality of Originality.
Learning to use your map enables you to heal and transform your patterns of closure and defence and re-connect you with the 'real' you at the centre of the map.

Your journey to living your calling
As a Purple Individualist, you avoid being visible and don your mask every time you feel ordinary or made to conform. Your journey to being visible is concerned with the ways you ensure that you remain unique in all circumstances. In an attempt to deny your feelings of deficiency you will often recast yourself as being special or unique as a way of valuing yourself on a surface level, and when this is taken to extremes you can often appear grandiose. You have a hidden fear of being emotionally cut off and abandoned and can seek connections that are not necessarily good for you, and you will go to great lengths to avoid feeling lost, disorientated and without personal significance, meaning or direction. You avoid appearing to others as inadequate, defective or flawed and will often portray an outer appearance of strength that you don’t really feel. Craving ideal circumstances, or love, you often ruminate on what is missing and perceived to be important. You tend to worry that others may have a better deal, or are being recognised while your talents are being ignored. Although it would be wrong to see all Purple Individualists as artists, you have the temperament of one and long to freely express yourself and need to be seen as artistic, gifted and accomplished
In terms of showing up in the world, this means that you:
Expend a lot of effort on making your offering unique rather than effective.
Turn into victim mode when things don't go as planned.
Struggle to see the light side of your work.
Take your message to extremes.
Look too much at what other people are doing.
Find business partners that are not good for you.
In your one to one work, this could mean that you often find yourself:
Going too deep, too fast with clients.
Being overly provocative with your questions.
Being too 'off the wall' with your approach.
Making clients' lack of progress about you being different and misunderstood.
Being too intense.
Being too emotional.
The journey to getting visible means recognising and transforming these patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling so you find the space to get back to the Originality at the core of who you are.
How can my map help?
By learning how to use your map as a practice you will naturally be more:
Relaxed - as you let go of being overly 'deep' with your clients and your message to the world.
Fulfilled - as you learn to express your own needs and desires to clients without resorting to drama.
Authentic - as you speak your truth rather than resorting to manipulation.
Valued - as you have a greater sense of your own self-worth in your work in the world.
Gracious - as you feel less resentful when you see clients have what you do not.
Open - as you feel less misunderstood by the world and your clients.
Accepting - as you learn to be less of a victim.
Alive - as you live more fully in the moment.
Peaceful - as you let go of being quite so intense in the world and in your coaching sessions.
