The Yellow

Enthusiast

As a Yellow Enthusiast, you value happiness above all else. Outgoing and spontaneous, you love anything that is new, novel or unusual. Upbeat, positive and optimistic, you naturally cheer up and inspire your clients. Quick to laugh and make a joke, you easily entertain people. A ‘jack of all trades’ you often have diverse skills and interests. You are innovative, multi-talented, creative and at home in the world of things and experiences. You want to be fascinating, fascinated, optimistic and enthusiastic. More importantly, you want to be stimulated, creative, positive and excited. You seek excitement, new experiences, people and travel. If life gets you down, you escape your anxiety and boredom through variety and activity. These traits mean that you are already a good coach, but this journey is about you stepping up, being fully visible, and doing soul centric work with your clients and in the world.

Below is your map for the journey.

How does my map work?

Your map is a visual device that enables you to recognise and relax your unconscious and egoic ways of coping, defending and protecting yourself. When used as a practice it enables you to transform your egoic patterns setting you free to live your larger calling in the world.

The outer layers of your map show you first-hand your everyday patterns of defence and armoured ways of hiding, whilst the centre of your map shows you who you really are.

Your true self is, for the most part, blocked or buried under the overwhelm of modern-day life. Connecting with this aspect of who you are will enable you to be visible in the world and visible to your clients. At the core of the Yellow Enthusiast is the quality of Joy.

Your journey to soul centric work

As a Yellow Enthusiast, you don your armour and block access to your true self any time you feel trapped. Your journey to becoming a Soul Centric Coach is concerned with the ways you ensure you avoid being trapped, especially in painful situations. The way you do this is by focusing on ways of avoiding pain and suffering and feeling trapped. This focus on avoidance tends to lead you to become easily distracted and fickle. Because you become quickly bored with your life and start to feel trapped or claustrophobic, you can become scattered in an attempt to divert from your current situation. A glutton for choice you often appear extravagant when looking for ways to have your cake and eat it too. This extravagant nature can also show up as you look to the future and the next pleasurable experience, trip or even the next meal. This future orientation causes you to continually plan in order to escape from your inner anxieties and introspection. You enjoy flexibility because it gives you the option to change your mind at the last minute. Your attention goes to a positive future, with multiple options, but you can become paralyzed by options because you are afraid of missing out. Your vices are gluttony, overdoing and seeking stimulation until you collapse or become ill. If your dreams remain unmet, you can become jaded, selfish and/or greedy.

In terms of becoming visible in the world, you sabotage your efforts by:

  • Constantly chopping and changing your approach and message.

  • Seeking out new and exciting opportunities that distract you.

  • Looking forward rather than focussing on what is already here.

  • Running toward pleasurable experiencing.

  • Getting scattered and taking on too much.

  • Getting lost and overwhelmed.

  • Letting boredom guide your choices.

  • Never committing to one course of action.

In a coaching relationship, this could mean that you often find yourself:

  • Being overly optimistic about your client's path.

  • Unable to sit with feelings of unhappiness your client might have.

  • Suggesting distraction techniques with clients rather than doing the real work.

  • Chopping and changing your approach.

  • Avoiding the deeper issues that are emerging.

  • Being overly jolly.

  • Using humour to divert the client from going too deep.

Your journey to doing soul centric work means using The My Map Method for recognising and transforming these patterns of behaving, thinking and feeling and connecting with the true Joy at the centre of your being.

How does my map help?

By using your map as a practice you are naturally able to feel more:

  • Centered - as you let go of your usual desire to fill your days and the coaching space with ‘happy’ experiences.

  • Content - as you learn to allow empty space to inform your choices and enter into your coaching sessions.

  • Accepting - as you enjoy doing work and coaching around subjects that previously appeared boring or mundane.

  • Courageous - as you feel less fearful of painful situations you find yourself in and able to hold strong emotions your clients might be feeling.

  • Focussed - as you find it natural to think clearly about your message and hold space for your clients rather than being quite so scattered and fickle.

  • Peaceful - as you work towards having more stillness in your life and your coaching practice.

  • Real - as you are no longer use humour as a technique to distract clients' attention away from deeper issues.

  • Alive - as you live more fully in the moment rather than escaping to an idealised future.

  • Gracious - as you let go of being quite so critical and selfish when things don’t go your way.
